Re: kombucha 101 thread!
Stiina, it pretty much felt like a more solid mango (to me at least). The top was pretty hard, more like a pear. And not any more slimy than a piece of fruit.

Re: kombucha 101 thread!
Nope. And I brewed for months with zero issues. I probably didn't clean my jar very well. I will get a scoby from mil when I go for thanksgiving.

Re: kombucha 101 thread!
My friends were over when I was restarting my brew and we called it "placenta tea".

Re: kombucha 101 thread!
I split my scoby so I could give a baby one to a friend (yay for sharing!) and I was surprised that it wasn't slimy/mucousy feeling. More like a gummy bear.
So interesting!! And so far I've made blackberry, strawberry, lemon and peach KT. I think the lemon tastes like regular iced tea, but w/ a kick. It's good! I can't sit down w/ a big full glass of it, but 1/4 glass is good. Is it okay to mix it w/ juice for the kids? They won't drink it straight

Re: kombucha 101 thread!
It's good to be back! I have consumed one batch of booch, have a second bottled, and a third in the jar. The second batch got a little vinegar-y, but it is still tasty with ginger and some added sugar!
DH isn't a huge fan anymore, but that just means more for me!!!

Re: kombucha 101 thread!
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. It's been 7 days! Smells like apple cider vinegar so I'm guessing I should bottle it up!
Now do I want to use my clean mason jars, or clean out some of DH's empty beer bottles? (he brews beer) From what I've read, you can get better fizz out of a beer bottle, right? |

Re: kombucha 101 thread!
Baby drank all the booch. I have another couple of days to a week until my next batch will be ready. Wahhhh!
He really loves his KT. Ds1 is starting to take the home made now but ds2 is still not havin'it! He needs it the most I think. |
