Chicken pox experiences?

So I just found out Isabella was exposed to the chicken pox on Sunday, and while it's terrible timing (We fly home on Saturday) I'm a little excited if it turns into something. Get it out of the way early heh.

Anyway just wondering if you know when your kid was exposed and how long it took for them to appear? Also any other symptoms? Isabella started with nose congestion yesterday and today it's full on head cold like thing going on. Runny nose, bit of a cough, sneezing and she woke up from her nap with a fever.

The girl whose son has them said Alex started out with a cold before they appeared. She doesn't think they are connected but its hard to say.

The first symptoms of chickenpox often are a fever, a headache, and a sore throat. You or your child may feel sick, tired, and not very hungry. The chickenpox rash usually appears about 1 or 2 days after the first symptoms start. Some children get the chickenpox rash without having a fever or other early symptoms.

It usually takes 14 to 16 days to get the symptoms of chickenpox after you have been around someone with the virus. This is called the incubation period.

My youngest son got them when he was a baby after being exposed to a neighbors daycare child who started having the symptoms the next day and it wasnt 14 - 16 days - that is for sure.And he wasnt going into public places at all so we are pretty sure it had to be from the neighbors daycare child.It was less than a wk from time of exposure until he broke out with 1st spots,I remember that much. Most kids have some fever and cold symptoms as first sign then spots that look like little flea bites - his started in diaper area and spresd to his trunk area then arms & legs and face last.

we got them 16days after exposure and it did start w/a fever.

So pleased you're asking about this....my lovely 5 year old came home from school this afternoon with chickenpox. It's been going abour apparently in his school for a week or so. But last night he was coughing thoughout his sleep and this morning as we walked to school he said his mouth and gums were sore. I noticed it when I checked his mouth when he came home and there were spots in there and on his gums, I then checked his body and he had spots on his back, chin, tummy and head. It seems to have came out of nowhere without any warning. I just hope it clears up really quickly. My eldest had it when she was 2 but that was 11 years ago....so can't really remember clearly what her symtoms were. I am now hoping that my baby girl gets it just to get it all over and done with! I got chicken pox as an adult. I'm not absolutely sure where I was exposed but the best suspect is a wedding I attended two weeks before I broke out in the rash. I wasn't out much except for that.

Chamomile baths REALLY help with the itching. I also carried wet chamomile tea bags around with me all day and would apply them wherever I itched.
