Question worming and flea treatments

How often do you do them for outdoor cats? The kittens are inside about part time, I am slow on worming them. something about being pregnant and having family living with us and having a new baby getting me off track...does it have to be monthly even in the winter? When I took the kittens to be altered, I was told that they all had active cases of fleas and they received Capstar. They never seemed itchy or anything and none of the kids have complained about being itchy.

When we had an outdoor cat we didn't worm him. He always looked good and healthy. One stray I took in had worms. The OTC meds weren't strong enough so I got an Rx. Same for one of my dogs. The OTC med was fine for basic prevention/maintenance but when he was losing weight and having digestive issues, we had to get an Rx worming med. The vet said it's 10x stronger than OTC and it did the trick.

I think the recommended schedule for outdoor cats is 2-4x per year but I'm not sure.

They don't seem to have any symptoms of worms, diarrhea, weight loss, distended bellies, etc. I am asking because I heard that they should be de wormed starting from 6-8 weeks. We are not really in a high mosquito area. What about fleas? A friend of mine treats her cat for fleas every month.

Pumpkin stayed in the garage one rainy night; we didn't notice until the morning. There were feces, he vomited, and I saw worms. I didn't put two and two together right away though.

I wormed 5 out of 6 of them and gave 5 of the 6 flea treatments. Note to self: it is much easier to squirt a syringe of medicine into a cat's mouth than it is to get a pill into a smarter than average cat. (Nick and Pumpkin) [picture removed per guideline 17]
