Re: My teeth are remineralizing.
I wonder if cal-mag is why my teeth never gave me problems while pregnant? I've been taking calcium and magnesium daily for years for my PCOS (well, the calcium was added specifically when I got pregnant). I haven't used flouride toothpaste in over a decade and we have no flouride in our drinking water, either.

Re: My teeth are remineralizing.
mine did the same thing For years I only could use the sensodyne toothpaste as my teeth were super sensitive- now I use toms of Maine flouride free and taking cal mag- no more sensitivity at all- I did take a while though But worth it!

LinzluvsGJ--yes, your teeth can grow new enamel. Mine did! I highly recommend the book Cure Tooth Decay.

My kids had cavity free check ups Monday too And all of dd1's staining is gone - it was just staining. We are starting with a fresh, stain free mouth and she has calendula and red toothpaste by weleda. So we are hoping it helps reduce the stains.

Re: My teeth are remineralizing.
Someone just posted about the link between vitamin D and teeth health- especially for the pregnant breastfeeding mom during baby teeth development.
Also, I wanted to mention that mouth breathing at night is killer on teeth. The best think I ever did for my son's teeth was get his tonsils out.

Simon's ENT has specifically warned that Simon's tonsils and adenoids must -never- be removed, short of cancer. Simon will eventually use a CPAP.

Re: My teeth are remineralizing.
I'd love to make a list/brochure for my future patients that addresses this issue. Do you think everything mentioned in this thread is in this book? Or Rabbit- maybe you could kind of summarize the suggestions in your OP?

Re: My teeth are remineralizing.
Just wanted to add that everytime I go to the dentist, he tells me that I have the beginnings of gum disease. I started using Thieve's Oil, and that seemed to help some. I switched to a flouride-free toothpaste, and suddenly the pain is gone.

Re: My teeth are remineralizing.
I haven't read the book but I tend to think that this thread is a collection of what has worked for people on GCM not necessarily about 1 method or ideology

Here are some links from my dentist's website http://www.mynaturaldentist.com/links.asp And Mercola has that info on vitamin D that I posted in that link about vit d supplementation for pg/nursing women. I think anyone w/ tooth decay should be taking lots of vit d as well. Kind of but this link has cool info about teeth and meridians, similar to chiropractic . . . IOW if a specific tooth has a root canal or is infected, how it can affect the rest of your body http://www.mynaturaldentist.com/inte...ooth-chart.asp My next step is to work on restoring my gums. I don't have gingivitis (well, probably a little bit) but I do have some pretty serious gum recession from not going to the dentist for 10 years and being prone to tartar. I know there must be ways to help my gums re-grow, I believe that with all my being, now to just figure it out. I'm using Weleda's Rathania toothpaste as a start, that herb is supposed to help heal gums. |

Re: My teeth are remineralizing.
Lisa I've started coq10 to strengthen my gums.
Natalie thanks for the info. I took out fluoride (from our toothpaste) a long time ago. We're on well water so no fluoride for the past 6 years. My teeth are a bit on the thin side since I wasn't taking calmag until about 2 years ago and not consistently. It doesn't help that for the last 4 years I've always been nursing at least two even while pregnant. I'm now back on it. We use Spry toothpaste for everyone in the house. I do believe genetics plays a big role with regards to tooth health (and I remember reading about antibiotic use while the fetus us developing teeth might affect as well). We all had fluoride treatments provided in school and my sis has always had caries while I've not had anything (cavities, etc.) all my life. I am prone to tartar buildup but recently with the cal mag, spry and since several years ago I switched to a sonicare toothbrush it's helped tremendously.

Re: My teeth are remineralizing.
I have often wondered how much Vit. D plays a role in tooth health. My oldest daughter has the worst teeth out of all my kids. And I NEVER got any sunlight before I had her or when I was pregnant. It was winter most of my pregnant and I just stayed inside puking and then on bedrest. Before that, I was in college and working. I just never got outside. She also never had cavities in the fall. It is always her spring appt. that they find cavities. We live in MI so we don't get sun in the winter.
---------- Post added at 08:28 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:26 PM ---------- And I was outside constantly when I was pregnant with my youngest daughter. She has great teeth! My nutrition in general was a lot better too. We started drinking raw milk and eating grass fed meat and eating fewer grains.
