What would you take for a month?
Let's say you were going to somewhere with nothing--like a big tent
what would be important to you? what would you be likely to forget? what would seem obvious but you know you'd forget it ? what would make you feel special? what would help you survive!

Re: What would you take for a month?
I know what you are doing is a little more than just "regular camping", but when I go camping the thing that I always forget and wish I had is a door mat for my tent...just something to take our shoes off and put on.
The other thing I like having is a big tub of some sort to wash dishes in. Neither are necessary, but they do make life a little easier.

Re: What would you take for a month?
what would be important to you? clean drinking water, equipment to dig a potty hole, and a means to shower and wash dishes... hygiene when I'm camping makes the whole experience SO much nicer.
what would you be likely to forget? electronics... when you have the entire outdoors, why do you need electronics?! what would seem obvious but you know you'd forget it ? toilet paper what would make you feel special? some really good books and a hammock to string between two big trees what would help you survive? a cooler full of ice cold coca cola. |

the doormat is a great idea We have galvinized tubs for dishes and bodies and laundry I have a clothes hanging thing (not a line but the pop up metal things) I'm actually taking my laptop so I can go into town and do work at a diner, and I will be able to watch the math video with the children . . .

Re: What would you take for a month?
Yeah, in reality I'd probably have a hard time leaving my laptop, mostly cause writing is a compulsion for me, and with my carpal tunnel, I can't write with a pencil anymore.

Re: What would you take for a month?
I'd be sure to take tiolet paper and a line to hang clothes.
If there were no showers around...then hopefully you'll have a place nearby to swim...make that the place to keep washed up. I think maybe something I'd really want to take but might forget is hand sanitizer. Have fun.

I thought this was a hypothetical question that you were asking for fun.
I wouldn't even know where to start. I'm a sorry pioneer. No help here! |

Re: What would you take for a month?
Bug repellant of some sort, sunscreen, tarp (for keeping things dry--- bikes, over the tent, etc.), tin foil (for throwing potatoes in the campfire!), journal, playing cards/board games (if trapped in the tent due to whether!) hmmmmmmmm, what else?

Quote:
I leave a bag out for a day or so before leaving, maybe even a week if it's going to be a long trip, and I put in all my personal items as I use them. The tweezers got left behind many times before I started doing this! Dh and I were just talking tonight about how we'd like to go camping and what we may be able to fit into our tiny car that now holds 2 adults and 2 kids. It's been so long since we left I don't know if I can answer the other questions....except I totally DITTO the HAMMOCK!

Re: What would you take for a month?
Love the hammock idea
what would be important to you? ?? what would you be likely to forget? Enough ideas to keep me busy when the quiet and down time hits. what would seem obvious but you know you'd forget it ? ?? what would make you feel special? Tea, a little bag with some of my special things in it (journal (to record thoughts and ideas and to press special botanicals in when they really capture my attention), pen, favorite book, new book, favorite snack to ration out, thin cloth to spread on the ground to sit on, etc.) and a way to have my own space (that's why I like the hammock!) or a special area of trees or something to retreat into what would help you survive! A washboard! Washing clothes by hand is hard enough on the hands, a washboard makes it so much easier. And a book with fun survival/natural living activities and techniques to work on and make me feel productive at time.

toiletries would definitely be one I'd forget. That would include any and all personal care items.
pillows are another one that frequently gets forgotten here. and towels.. A screened in canopy thing to eat under to keep the bugs off. outdoor play stuff for the kids.... bikes, balls, trampoline, etc. |

Re: What would you take for a month?
Nail scissors and tweezers. It drives me crazy if my toe nails get too long and I feel frumpy when my eyebrows go wild. And I always forget those two things!
