anyone have a Kindle?
Do you love it?
Dh wants to get one for me for Christmas. I'm feeling a little :/ about this 1) they seem a little spendy. I can think of a thousand - well, several, anyway - things I would rather have but would never have thought to ask for due to $, and they cost less than this does. Like a Berkey water filter. 2) I'm sort of anti new technology, in a sense. That is, i don't want to be dependent or develop a dependence on new technologies as they come out. That may not make any sense at all, but it is how I feel. However, I can see how it would be nice to have a mini portable library, and I really appreciate that he's trying to think of something that i will really like - I hate to rain on his parade, but a Berkey is something I just won't buy on my own, and although boring, would really contribute to an increased sense of security for me.

Re: anyone have a Kindle?
I want one badly, but not for a few years, yet. I want the technology to be better and the expense to be less before I take the plunge.

Re: anyone have a Kindle?
Oh the space I could save with a portable library. Oh the library I could build. *drool* Yeah, I really really want one. But I will have to wait for the price to come down more I think. In the meantime, I am considering audiobooks but I really prefer reading to listening, so I'm not sure about that.
If it's not your thing, though - it's an awful lot of money that, like you said, could be spent on other things. Point in the fact, it's the reason I'm not getting one yet and I actually want it!

Re: anyone have a Kindle?
I love the idea and have been dreaming of one (or maybe lusting after one? ) since they came out, so I've been following reviews - and I'm going to wait until the technology is better and prices come down. People who have them have been talking about some problems with them. Amazon.com has lots of customer reviews - look for reviews from people who have had one awhile.
For now, I'm happy with my Asus EEE mini-laptop where I can download and read classics from websites like Project Gutenburg for free. |
