Hand lotion?
DH's hands are SO chapped and dry and cracking open - right now he's using coconut oil on them as often as he can but he can't exactly put that on at work and be all goopy.
Any tips on hand lotion that isn't full of added gunk? |

Re: Hand lotion?
Hmmm... have you tried searching etsy? There are many reputable sellers on there selling vegan/natural skin care products, and they list the ingredients, mostly coconut oil based with shea butter and essential oils and stuff. You can check if they have a lot of sales and good feedback, and generally you'd be pretty safe.

Re: Hand lotion?
Usually lotion has alcohol as an ingredient (drying), and you might want to get something called hand cream. Not everyone follows the rule, but cream should not have alcohol added. I am currently using a hand creme from Alba with shea butter, and my dd likes a hand creme by Palmers that has cocoa butter. I joke that she smells like a chocolate bar.

Re: Hand lotion?
Heh, I thought lotion and cream were just interchangeable words for "that gooey stuff you rub into your skin" I didn't know there was actually a formula difference.

Re: Hand lotion?
I am sharing what a dermatologist told me about lotion vs. cream. Unfortunately, you still have to read the ingredient list if it says, "cream" but a lotion will most likely have alcohol in it. Lotions tend to be thinner, and the alcohol helps it to dry faster.

Re: Hand lotion?
I just started making a salve for dry skin and eczema that's made from just olive oil and beeswax. I've been having amazing results from it and have had lots of people give me good feedback...including my MIL who has severely chapped/cracked hands. When she forgets to use my salve it comes back (she hasn't let it heal completely).
You can look at my Etsy shop, if you are interested. I love Shalomtion, too! They are different...honestly, I would consider (if it were me) using mine at night and Shalomtion throughout the day. That's what I'd recommend to a friend.

Re: Hand lotion?
My husband uses this for his dry hands. He puts it on all day, and it really helps. It's not super greasy and it's easy to use.

Re: Hand lotion?
I would check out Bubble and Bee. Their stuff is awesome and no yucky stuff.
also this link gives a super simple recipe for making your own coconut oil lotion. I've made it. Love it! (gave it as Christmas gifts this year)
