Best.grilled.cheese.EVER!
I was watching Oprah the other day when they did a special on the best sandwiches in America and I was inspired to try a grilled cheese like this one:
http://www2.oprah.com/foodhome/food/...edcheese.jhtml Oh my! The basil and the honey made something magical! I only had mozzarella, and I used fresh whole wheat bread that I made with my new grain mill (woohoo!) and it is the most amazing sandwich. I have a basil plant in my kitchen, so I plucked a few of the leaves off of there and sliced up a fresh tomato. It was heavenly. I think I need to go make another one.

we eat that a lot in the summer when we have fresh tomatoes. It's one of hubby's fave meals.

Re: Best.grilled.cheese.EVER!
Its just growing in a container on my windowsill. It is very happy there. I have a little makeshift herb garden just above my sink.

Re: Best.grilled.cheese.EVER!
Wow - that's a neat link for basil growing! I didn't know basil can be frozen!!!
BTW I saw that mouth-watering sandwich and fell in love too!!! Haven't tried it yet... since we try not to have dairy in the house (b/c of ds). I wonder if there could be some sort of dairy-free version that could satisify a 2.5 y/o (so I wouldn't have to hear the fit, if I'm eating it in front of him).

Re: Best.grilled.cheese.EVER!
I wonder how cinnamon basil would be? Mine is exploding, and I"m trying to find ways to use it. That sounds so scrumptious!

Re: Best.grilled.cheese.EVER!
I'm thinking about making this for lunch. What should I serve with it? We are NOT big soup eaters in this house, so soup/sandwich is out.

cut up fruit or veggies are always a nice side. Or a smoothie, maybe?
