hit me with your best smoothie recipes please
I need to get more protein into my son for school. He'd be happy to eat dry cereal every morning (ew!). I'm wanting to build a repertoire of higher protein smoothie recipes to kick start his day.
I don't have a fabulous blender (for now). He doesn't like peanut butter, or any nuts for that matter. Suggestions? |

Putting yogurt or tofu into fruit smoothies or chocolate milk shakes works well for extra protein.

Peanut Butter Smoothie
1 cup milk 2 TBSP peanut butter 1 frozen banana Whirr in blender until smooth. We make variations of this. Sometimes we add chocolate chips to the regular pb or we substitute chocolate pb for the regular. Berry Smoothie 1 cup vanilla yogurt Handful of frozen blueberries A few frozen cherries A couple frozen pineapple chunks Banana, optional Just enough orange juice so it will blend properly Can hide a large handful of spinach in this smoothie without anyone detecting it. ETA: Oh sorry, I didn't see that he didn't like pb, so nevermind the peanut butter smoothie recipe.

Re: hit me with your best smoothie recipes please
Agave nectar is a great way to sweeten smoothies bc it doesn't have as strong a taste as honey. I didn't list any recipes bc we usually just throw in what we have around here. We start with OJ base, add frozen fruit, and a little agave nectar. The tofu or yogurt would just make it more smooth. I personally don't like the taste of yogurt, but dds like it. If you add tofu, use the soft kind. For milk shakes, we use powdered chocolate, tofu, milk (or soy milk), banana and something sweet (honey or agave nectar).

Little Mister can't have peanut butter, so I use whey protein powder (unflavoured) in his smoothies. Or just some Greek yogurt. Then I use fruits that he likes. Mango, banana, blueberries, strawberries.... Sometimes I throw in kale or chard, too.

We don't really have any recipes, just whatever fruits we have frozen and whatever veggies I think I can hide plus some rice milk - however I thought I'd throw out there that DH said he made a smoothie that he shared with Mayah yesterday in which he used applesauce in addition to the normal stuff. He claims it was excellent!

We use soy protein powder too. That will definitely give your son a big protein boost in the morning! We buy the non-GMO kind.
