Wait how do those laundry balls clean? It looks like you'd just be washing your clothes in plain water. What cleans the clothes?

This is what had always made me hesitate to try them. On a chymical/molecular level what is going on that subsostues for the bipolarity of the soap?

They change the pH of the water. And there is no detergent to rinse out of your clothes so the rinse cycle is a second washing.

Quote:

As Crystal Wash moves around in your laundry machine during a cycle, it changes the chemistry and raises the pH balance of the water. The higher Alkaline water created by Crystal Wash enables dirts and soils to be soaked free naturally.
crystal wash hydrogen peroxide
Disinfecting
This process creates a natural Hydrogen Peroxide type effect, which disinfects your clothes... killing bacteria and odors.
The combination of these two things is what makes Crystal Wash so effective, AND they will last for at least 1000 washes! That’s about three years of doing laundry, if you averaged one load per day.
https://secure.crystalwash.com/. Crystal Wash is the first brand I bought. Worked great but costs 3x as much as other brands.

In Europe there are commercial washing machines with the same beads built in to the machine.

This is kind of an odd one and more of a once-in-a-lifetime thing. But the wedding threads got me thinking.

I will not tell my kids what to do for their weddings. However, I will suggest that they let their wedding party pick out their own nice outfits rather than having everyone purchase the same outfit that they will never wear again.
