How to clean marker stains
I'm cleaning our rental dwelling in preparation for moving out and need some advice on a few cleaning conundrums:
There is a small colorful spot on the bathroom counter where kids spilled some food coloring. The counter is white, I think solid surface. Dd colored on the fridge with dry erase marker. I cleaned it but there is like a faint mark still. We had irises in a vase on the counter, and somehow one got stuck to the wall, and left behind a big blue blotch. So far nothing I've tried has done the trick. Does anyone have a recommendation?

For the refrig, try nail polish remover.

Re: How to clean marker stains
For stains like that I break out the chemicals
Do you have something called of vim? It’s like a thick liquid. Almost like bar keepers friend. I put that in a small amount on the stain and I leave it for about half an hour. And then I very very gently rub it in a circular motion. It’s gotten red food dye off my counter. They are cream coloured. What about a magic eraser for the iris?

Re: How to clean marker stains
I would try bleach or a product containing bleach for each of those.
If you have a janitorial supply in your town, inquiring there may offer additional options.

Re: How to clean marker stains
For the marker stain, definitely rubbing alcohol, 91%; I have used it with success on many surfaces with Sharpie, dry erase, and kids washable markers. It will even take Sharpie off of skin.
If the counter is plastic laminate (like Formica), any mild abrasive cleanser should be safe. I’m less sure of what would be safe for solid surface (like Corian), so I’d determine the type of surface before using anything harsh. Ditto to the magic eraser for the stain on the wall. Re: How to clean marker stains
After copious scrubbing, nail polish remover worked better than rubbing alcohol on the fridge. There's still a bit of a smudge so I might try another round.
So far I've tried magic eraser, alcohol, and polish remover on the wall to no avail. Baking soda worked on the food coloring.

Re: How to clean marker stains
I was going to recommend sanding. I'm surprised food coloring would come out at all.
