Olympics 2018 Unit Study?
We’re looking for a nice Winter Olympics 2018 unit study (elementary age.)
I’m willing to pay, but free is always nice I found a couple on Amazon, but there are either no reviews or meh reviews. Has anyone seen anything online that looks fun?

Re: Olympics 2018 Unit Study?
Not yet.
I'm not sure I want a unit study, precisely, but I'd like to do some stuff. I have a 10, 8 and 5. The geography we've been doing lately is all African, so probably not very applicable unfortunately. We can, of course do some geography study on South Korea and North Korea. I was thinking it would be neat to learn to use spreadsheets with the Olympics for my older two. I thought of tracking multiple countries' medal counts and graphing them, maybe. Any other cool spreadsheet ideas? Hmmm. Maybe doing some reading about some of our country's athletes. And, sledge hockey! Woohoo! I'd just like to put in a plug for everybody studying the Olympics to reinforce for their kids that it comes in two parts: Feb 9-25, and then Mar 8-18 for the Paralympics. Re: Olympics 2018 Unit Study?
We did a lap book on the Olympics from homeschoolshare many years ago and really enjoyed it. I looked and I don't think they had one up-to-date for this year, but I wonder if you could use their templates to make your own.

Sonlight is putting out a free winter Olympics activity book (36 pages). I just peeked at it briefly but it looks good.

Re: Olympics 2018 Unit Study?
I browsed several resources and have put together a rough outline of what we'll be doing:
Feb 5 - Sort flags according to Olympic rings using this resource. Feb 6 - Learn about the host city and country using the Sonlight ebook and other resources. Feb 7 - Choose one country from each Olympic ring and study it in-depth using this resource. Feb 8 - Learn about the various winter sports using the Sports tab here. Feb 9 - Begin filling out this Olympic booklet. Over the course of the Olympics, we will watch some events and keep a chart of the various results. After the Olympics are over, we will create various Excel graphs (along these lines) of the results. For an all-in-one option, this one looked thorough and reasonably priced.

Great idea! Thank you everyone for all the links. We have never watched the Olympics (I don't enjoy spectator sports) but maybe we will this year.
