ferritin (iron) levels low?
my ferritin level is 17. from what I've seen the range is 12-123(?). I've read some articles that say if it is below 40 it is likely that the person's iron is low (esp. if having symptoms). and if hypothyroid it's even more important for ferritin to be more like 50-70. called my dr and left message with nurse stating my issue. she called back and left message that said the dr is not concerned with my level but he would go ahead and prescribe iron for me.
?? Are these articles I read not accurate? Based on my fatigue and some other symptoms and the fact that I've been nursing with only a 6 month break since 2005, pregant twice, lost a lot of blood with second birth, isn't it likely that my iron IS low even though technically in the normal range?
