I can freeze green onions, right?
I have some but won't be getting around to using them for a week or so. Can I freeze them and thaw them out the night before I plan to use them?

Re: I can freeze green onions, right?
My dh freezes them. He uses them a lot in his cooking so we like to stock up when we find the organic ones on sale, kwim? So he tries to freeze them in an airless bag, or as airless as he can get it. They've been fine so far!

They might not thaw out perfectly for salads, but should still be fabulous for cooking.

Re: I can freeze green onions, right?
I've actually never cooked with green onions before! But my dh had some in his eggs and loved them, so I bought some (they were on sale and organic too! ) but I just don't have time to use them until next week. I plan to use them in latkes and in some "eggs" which my dh doesn't know will actually be egg replacer, tofu, and nurtitional yeast. We'll see how it goes!! LOL\
Thank you! |

Re: I can freeze green onions, right?
Would you chop them up and freeze them, or freeze them whole? I too have too many right now and would like to freeze them...

Re: I can freeze green onions, right?
I'm betting it would be easier to chop them frozen, and cook without thawing. That's how I do my garlic.

Re: I can freeze green onions, right?
I still have green onions in the garden. It has been dipping into the 30's at night and they have somehow survived.
