Cheap and easy party snacks?
Planning D's birthday party. Expecting about 30 people total (half of them are kids). Not that many families but they have a lot of kids!
Trying to plan some cheap and easy snacks. The party is in the afternoon, not lunch time. Obviously serving cake. Chips and mild and spicy salsa. What else? Maybe watermelon? Google's ideas are not what I would call easy. Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk

Watermelon is good but messy. Pretzels, grapes, sliced apples, cantaloupe (not sure what's in season where you are). Crackers with or without sliced cheese. Carrot sticks.

Re: Cheap and easy party snacks?
I can think of a lot of things that are cheap OR easy but not both. Bananas might be good (leave peels on but cut bananas in thirds- people can take a piece and peel it. Baby carrots are good, too. I think Costco would be your friend here if you have a membership (or a friend with a membership). You could get a huge bucket of animal crackers and a big bag of baby carrots for cheap. They have lots of other stuff, too, but those two come to mind.
But if it were me I would just serve the cake and call it good.

Re: Cheap and easy party snacks?
Watermelon is a great idea. Cut into spears instead of cubes to save yourself some time and mess.
I would maybe add some hummus, pretzels and veggies, a big water dispenser or small bottled water. Cheese cubes are very popular with kids and adults. Jab a pretzel stick in as a handle to cut down on pigginess. |

Re: Cheap and easy party snacks?
I wouldn't do cheese in the heat because then you have to throw out the leftovers.

Re: Cheap and easy party snacks?
Watermelon - you can cut it into 'watermelon cookies' with cookie cutters which is fun for kids, or cut it into sticks which is easy for little ones to eat.

This is one flavor set, but they have a few if you look at the grocery store. The small size means there's not as much dripping everywhere . https://www.target.com/p/popsicle-di...t/-/A-13752634 |

Re: Cheap and easy party snacks?
I always find popcorn to be affordable and fun. If you are doing cake and ice cream as the main event you could just have a few munchies out (popcorn, watermelon, pretzels) for snacking while waiting and you'll be in good shape. I usually do lemonade, iced tea, and water for drinks. Coffee for the adults later with the cake.

Re: Cheap and easy party snacks?
Or you can make it still cheap but less easy by using any chex mix recipe with popcorn instead.
