I want to make scratch brownies, like they are from a box

Dh has this thing about Duncan Hines box mix brownies. It frankly hurts my feelings a bit

. So does anyone have a recipe for brownies that have that consistancy of duncan hines without all the partially hydrogenated crud?

It is still pretty "dessert and for the ocassional splurge but here is my tried and true recpie.

1 1/2 cup all purpose flour
3/4 cup powdered baking cocoa
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
2/3 cup butter
2 cup sugar
4 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1 cup chopped nuts (optional) (DH wont touch a brownie with nuts so if I want to be greedy

Sift together flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt; set aside.
Cream together butter and sugar with mixer little fluffy I jsut use a hand mixer

Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Blend in vanilla. Stir in dry ingredients, stirring well after each addition. Stir in nuts at this time

Spread in greased 13"x9" pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

oh boy! we are going to have to have a brownie bake off over here. Maybe even an old-fashioned blind-folded taste-test challenge
