stovetop dinners
My oven is broken and has been for a while. I'm in a rut. I need some new ideas for things I can cook on the stove or in the crock pot (which I never use...). Limitations: gluten free, egg free and dairy light. Or can be easily made that way, I can modify a lot of things but obviously there are some things that just won't work the same way. Help me!

Re: stovetop dinners
We do a lot of stir fry varieties.
Cut up any meat. Chicken is a fave here, but we also do ground beef or cut up steak. Then throw in whatever veggies you have on hand and done! Serve over rice or pasta, or eat as is.

Re: stovetop dinners
chili is fairly easy and can be done either on stove top or crock pot.
A wide variety of basic meat and veggie soups. We love chicken and veggie. You could also do a hamburger soup, with browned hamburger, tomato or beef base, and whatever veggies you like.

Re: stovetop dinners
I LOVE my crock pot. I just made soup with a ham bone, frozen corn, two cans of beans, some dried lentils, an onion, some uncooked rice, chicken stock and diced tomatoes. Add water until everything is submerged. Dump it all in at 10:00 am and it is ready at dinner time. You can basically dump any mix of veggies and/or grains and it still works out.
I've made pot roast, pulled pork and beef stew in the crock pot. For the pot roast, I buy a hunk of meat (some kind of roast meat) I slather it in horseradish sauce and put it in the crock pot with some potatoes and onions at the bottom and a half cup of water. The long cooking time subdues the horseradish, and it's tasty but not nearly as strong as the original.
