Anxiety in Children: Article

This was linked on Facebook -- it's pretty basic information on helping kids deal with panic attack and anxiety, and takes the same perspective and tactics as the audio program I bought to help my dd with her anxiety.

OK, This is crazy because I was just reading about this exact thing last night- the amygdala & mindfulness. It's crazy how God works. I prayed about this 2 days ago, then yesterday I was studying for the human anatomy & physiology class I teach to high schoolers and learned about the amygdala. I realized that was probably my problem (I have anxiety as well, but mostly way overreact to stressful situations), so I researched more.

My question is: how do you do this with a 5yo? He JUST turned 5 and is kinda resistant to new things like this. How old is your daughter who has anxiety, Leslie? Does she do mediation?

She is 13 now, but has dealt seriously with anxiety since she was maybe 8. She has not done mediation (that means seeing a counselor, right?) She did the Turnaround program 6 months ago, and that helped her to get a handle on it. She made a decision not to let anxiety ruin her life any more. I also started her on extra magnesium and a B12 complex. Between the Turnaround program, magnesium/B12, her determination, and maturity (growing out of it??), she is doing much, much better. I don't know which of those is actually helping, or if they're all working together, but I think she's dealing with it now in the same way mediation would have taught her to deal with it. Counseling would have been our next step, but it doesn't seem like she needs it now.
