Ways to Help Syrian Refugees
Regardless of your stance on Syrian refugees coming to the US, here are a couple of charities that help refugees overseas for those who are interested. I've researched both of these charities, and they make good use of their funds and actually do what they say, as far as I can tell. If you know of another one, please feel free to add it to this thread!
Medical Teams International has a program to send hygiene kits to refugees: https://www.medicalteams.org/where-w...yrian-refugees If you live in the Seattle area or Portland area, they also have volunteer opportunities in those locations (packing supplies, driving trucks, etc). The UN World Food Program actually gets food into the countries (as opposed to some food charities where they get it to the country and it sits on the docks going bad because they can't get it to the people). They are massively underfunded right now, and are not able to provide the amount of food that the refugee camps need (http://www.wfp.org/emergencies/syria). You can earmark your donation for specific places, or just donate in general. http://www.wfp.org/

Re: Ways to Help Syrian Refugees
International Rescue Committee: http://www.rescue.org/crisis-syria (you can see their high ratings on Charity Navigator as well) They have multiple programs going to help both within Syria and with the refugees that have been displaced elsewhere
---------- Post added at 04:46 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:39 PM ---------- International Orthodox Christian Charities: http://iocc.org/countries/countries_syria.aspx / Charity Navigator. Notable for working with churches that are already a long-established presence within communities in Syria, they are one of the very few organizations actually able to offer aid within the country, and they offer it regardless of religious affiliation
