Drinkin' and Paintin' or An Opportunity Knocks
I got my degree in Art History and minored in Painting, but haven't done anything with that. BUT a friend from school contacted me about teaching those sip and paint type classes. I'd earn money, and it's at night so no childcare.
But I haven't attended these before. I'll go to observe on Monday, but would love if you could share any thoughts with me if you've gone. |

Re: Drinkin' and Paintin' or An Opportunity Knocks
I've been to now, and it was so much fun.
The instructor had a finished piece, and he walked us through how to do a similar piece, but showed variations. IT was pretty step by step, but still totally unique results on every canvas. Start to finish, it was about a 90 minute class. There was the instructor, and he had a helper for setting up (but he was a fill in instructor, as he told us, the original one was in a collision on the way to the class, so I don't know if a staff of 2 is standard or not - it was a class of 25). Then he did some clean up, but we did some too. |

Re: Drinkin' and Paintin' or An Opportunity Knocks
I love them! A shop opened up down the street from my house last year and I go any chance I get. I've sat in with 4 or 5 different teachers.
In my observation the best classes are the ones that .... are *very* step by step and detailed as far as paint colors to add to the brush and up front at the beginning of the class what each brush and tool will be used for. . The teacher speaks clearly and loudly (especially when people start hitting their second glass of wine goodness it gets silly some times! ). The teacher stops at more detailed parts of the painting and goes around the room for a few minutes to be sure that no one needs suggestions or help with a specific part. The classes down the street from from 6:30-8:30 and some times we don't finish until 9 if it's a large group. ---------- Post added at 07:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:48 PM ---------- Oh also be sure you're clear at the beginning that every one heard your name.Or wear a name tag. It's so awkward when you need help and there is a lot of chatter and you didn't catch the instructors name and you need help and have to go up and tap them and ask. Makes you feel like you're in elementary school again.

What fun! I've always wanted to do one!
.......... I've seen kids do this too, and their paintings were awesome! Kids' only class.
