When you have your child's shoe size checked are they usually right?
Maybe it's because I went to Payless, I'm so confused. The lady told me my oldest son is a size 2 1/2, he hasn't worn that size in probably 2 years, I've had him in a 4 and I wanted to be sure I didn't need a bigger size before buying him school shoes. I ended up buying him a 4 and a 4 1/2. It would have helped if he would have walked around in them and told me if they felt good but he just stuck them on his feet for 2 seconds and said there good can we GO NOW!!!! She also told me my daughter was a size 12, she has been wearing 13s and complains of them being too tight half the time, but I'm sure a 1 would fall off her feet. I don't know if my kids are super sensitive to anything touching their feet, or if the shoe size thing was wrong (I saw the numbers myself), I'm confused.

Re: When you have your child's shoe size checked are they usually right?
In my vast experience with trying to find correctly fitting shoes for all kinds of feet with my kids and grandkids you have to by by trying on and fit - espially with cheaper shoes. Brands are all different and the sizing can vary from store to store. My grandson only wears one brand of shoe and that helps to know exactly what the next size up is and whether it is going to work width wise

That is odd! We always go to Stride Rite and have very good experiences there.

ITA - that is odd. We have never had trouble & the sizing has always been correct. Ive never bought shoes at payless though.

Re: When you have your child's shoe size checked are they usually right?
I've always used the measurement as a guideline because for my kids it has usually been off a size or two either way. We try on every pair of shoes we buy in order to make sure they fit. Also I've found that sandals/flip flops fit so much differently and sometimes require a different size than sneakers or dress shoes.

Like your experience, they vastly under size my kids. I'm not sure why? Like, sizes I wouldn't even be able to jam their feet into. The only time they've sized them correctly was when I took them to stride rite, but the stride rite here closed. I don't ask for help anymore and size them myself.
