Default Is there a rash when you eliminate dairy?

I don't know if this makes any sense. Maybe you all can interpret the details I remember.

After DS's 1st b-day, I suspected a dairy allergy and eliminated dairy for him and me. All of it. His stools turned normal within 4 days.

But around that time he got a rash on his trunk. I went to the doc for his well-baby checkup, and he diagnosed it as the first day of chicken pox. "Really early," he said.

It never got any worse. It stayed like that for a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time. Like 3 weeks. He never REALLY had any other CP-like symptoms. I kept him home with me or g-ma. It was really hard.

No one else got CP. No one at church. No one at school. No one in the family. NONE.

Was that NOT CP at all but maybe his body getting rid of the dairy?

I have no clue about what I'm saying. But I've been thinking about it. Everyone kept saying, "It's just an atypical case." But could it be THAT atypical?

I am no expert, but I know that sometimes rashes are the body's way of getting rid of toxins. Three weeks is a long time, though...did he itch? seem fussy or miserable?

My ds got a rash like that once - it just stayed and stayed and it didn't seem to itch him or bother him at all. I figured it was a reaction to a lotion I was using on him, but I was also cutting out all dairy and soy in my diet at around the same time, because we suspected an allergy to one or both. I wonder if it was related...?

I know there was no new soap, and I just don't use lotion much ever.

I just wonder. . . . If there had been other kids getting CP then I wouldn't think otherwise, but he was the ONLY one. . . .

That is strange that he was the only one.

Has he had a chicken pox vaccine? Children who have the vaccine have been known to get mild cases of CP. I don't think it sounds like CP, though. I wish I could be more help!

Nope. In fact, the rash got him OUT of the vaccine.
