Have you ever sewn barbie clothes?
My dd's want new barbie clothes. Strict budget prohibits new purchases. I have TONS of fabric stashed from diaper making days. Have you sewn doll clothes? Are they a pain to do since they're so tiny? If you have tips, tricks, or links please share.

Re: Have you ever sewn barbie clothes?
I remember doing some when I was that age. Might keep them occupied for awhile and some of it is super easy.
I just created patterns from simple existing clothes. Pinterest is likely your friend here if you want specifics.

Anything that is a straight line is easy, but for things like attaching sleeves, just expect to be doing that by hand. Have fun!

Re: Have you ever sewn barbie clothes?
I made clothes for my Barbies when I was around 9. I just used leftover pieces of fabric, lace and rickrack from my mom and grandma. Little snaps would have been handy, but I used small buttons.

Re: Have you ever sewn barbie clothes?
I finished one little dress. Hideous. Maybe I should stick to knitting.

Do you want to post a photo or post what you think was 'hideous' and get some suggestions? Are you using a pattern?

Re: Have you ever sewn barbie clothes?
My mom used to make Barbie clothes for us when I was a kid. She used snaps, but small bits of Velcro would work fine. She also made chairs out of cardboard milk cartons and a sofa from a cereal box.

Re: Have you ever sewn barbie clothes?
I sew Barbie clothing in a different order than I would bigger items. This article talks about it some.

Re: Have you ever sewn barbie clothes?
I made clothes for my Barbie as a kid. I used to sew the clothes onto the Barbie with the fabric wrong side out. Then turn it outside-in. It was simple and I thought my designs were just awesome.

Re: Have you ever sewn barbie clothes?
The top stitching is wonky. I *think* part of my dislike is that dd#6 chose flannel for the outfit. I have another cut in cotton to sew up tomorrow for dd#5. We shall see how it goes. Thank you everyone! Amy ~A Joyful Mom~
