Re: Bulletproof Coffee
I did a little less coconut oil (maybe closer to a teaspoon), and it was really good today I may have used a little more maple syrup (it pours fast sometimes)

Butter is pure fat. I do very well when avoiding carbs in the morning. I have mental health issues including ADHD. So I am careful to get started right in the a.m. Typically I try to eat high protein low carb. The majority of my carbs are consumed w dinner and before bed. For mornings, I do best w protein and tons of fat. This morning I had 2 cups of bulletproof coffee w one egg for protein.

Re: Bulletproof Coffee
I ran out of cream a couple of days ago, so I decided to give this a try. . . yummy! Too much work for me to do it every day, but I think it may be an occasional treat when I feel the need.

Butter: Fat - 11g Carbs - 0g Protein - 0g Heavy Cream: Fat - 6g Carbs - 0g Protein - 0g Essentially they are same thing. Heavy cream is more water, less fat. Sooooo, who wants to tell me where this bulletproof coffee idea came from? I just had to click on a thread that mentions coffee, but I've never heard of this!

When you make butter the remaining liquid is buttermilk. Wait! Is heavy cream different than cream? Lol. Just realized I answered about cream as I assumed?

Re: Bulletproof Coffee
I read somewhere the difference between cream and butter, and why butter is sometimes OK on dairy free diets, but cream is not.
I will try to find the link later. That said, I have had the coffee two more times, and it is starting to taste a little buttery for me. I am not sure I like it as much.

Re: Bulletproof Coffee
Buttermilk definitely has carbs, as does milk, and what most people call "cream," which is generally half & half.
Heavy cream is different and does not carbs or protein...though, I believe in very large quantities, cream would end up having some small amount of measurable carbs. I don't think butter would have any amount of measurable carbs, even in great quantity.

To me that is unmeasurable but in large quantities you would add carbs heavy cream isn't something we buy so it doesn't matter to me but I became curious as I what happened to the carbs in the liquid and googled nutritional contents now it makes sense to me because gaps allowed no sugars but honey I use mostly coconut oil and little butter

Re: Bulletproof Coffee
I've done this the last two days with cinnamon cream syrup (Pancake Pantry knockoff):
http://allrecipes.com/recipe/cinnamon-cream-syrup/ - with vanilla instead of maple extract We had a ton of it leftover after making it for pumpkin pancakes on Sunday, so I decided to try it in my coffee. Had to add a tiny bit of extra sweetener, but when I did it tasted like a cinnamon dolce latte DEFINITELY have to blend though. I tried just stirring it in and the fat floated on the top. Blending isn't just about getting froth; it's a completely different texture (much creamier) after blending.

Re: Bulletproof Coffee
What is sold as buttermilk nowadays is cultured, not what's left after churning butter.
Thanks for the nutritional info
