How would you clean these clothes?
There were some clothes in the bathroom floor and the toilet overflowed and got on some of them. We washed them several times on hot,but I'm worried about wearing them. This was months ago..I didn't know what to do so I just set them aside

Re: How would you clean these clothes?
it's at this point just a mental barrier for you. i cloth diaper so it wouldn't even phase me to throw those clothes in the wash (i'd rinse first then wash as normal) and then wear them. but if you don't think you can bring yourself to wear them again, donate them and make room for new clothes you will wear

Yes, I would just wash and wear them.

Fyi:we don't use bleach
We cloth diaper too..I thought of that today..he wears his 💩 clothes/diapers again and again I think it's just my OCD giving me problems since you all feel the same as DH. I'm glad to hear it since one of my fave shirts is in there! |

Re: How would you clean these clothes?
I don't use bleach and I *did* cloth diaper and didn't ever worry about poop or vomit soaked clothes over the years with kids (they're 8 and 9yo).
The only time I *did* worry about poop is when our septic backed up into the basement and I was unable to get all of the items of bedding that got wet into the wash in a reasonable time frame - once it sat in the septic water, I felt more comfortable throwing it out. But even items that were dripping wet went into the wash once with soap and a 2nd time with vinegar and we wore them as usual. No stink = clean.

Re: How would you clean these clothes?
I'd do a couple washes in a row to get past the mental block and would use vinegar or hydrogen peroxide in at least 1 of the washes for its disinfectant properties.

Re: How would you clean these clothes?
I personally would wash and wear as everyone above said... but also if it bothered me that much and they sat there this long without me needing them... toss them if that is the easy solution. I'd not give this endless thoughts and just make a decision one way or the other.

Re: How would you clean these clothes?
I was thinking vinegar, too. It does a good job of disinfecting things. The peroxide sounds like an even better idea; it definitely kills germs!

Re: How would you clean these clothes?
I would wash warm: pre-wash with vinegar, wash with soap and vinegar, extra wash with vinegar and soap.
Then, and only then, would I be OK |
