Remedies for dog with itchy skin?
Our vizsla (Hungarian pointer) has chronic itchy skin issues. We've switched food brands, even had her tested for allergies, food and environmental. Her skin is not dry, btw. The vet says she must have some kind of genetic itchy skin issue, and prescribed a medication that she'll be on for the rest of her life. The thing is that even the meds don't completely solve her discomfort. Can you ladies suggest anything?

We stopped bathing our pups so much and wipe them down with an old towel wit vinegar and water. Bathing can really dry them out and they can be sensitive to the shampoos

Have you tried Benadryl? Nan uses it for her dogs - one capsule (25mg) in their food dish at night, and the big dogs sometimes get one in the am as well.

Grain free dog food was the answer for our last dog; however, he continued to chew his feet due to anxiety which confused us as first.

Yes, she has always eaten grain/corn free food, and she doesn't get many baths (because her hair is so short that she doesn't get dirty). Haven't tried the other suggestions though
 And I wonder if adding oil to get diet would help?

We have added oil to our dogs food in addition to the vinegar wipe downs

Are you positive it is not a flea? Just one flea bite can get a dog itching.
I'd try Honest Kitchen food for 2-4 weeks.

It's not super intense. She's been tested for food and environmental allergens, but nothing came up. It happens regardless of time of year, and what house she lives in. I'm stumped.

I use coconut oil in our husky's food for her dry skin.
Or if we're out of coconut oil I mix up a 50/50 solution of ACV and water in a spray bottle. |

ditto to adding a tbs or so of coconut oil to her food daily. Maybe also try a little splash of ACV in her water bowl. My dog's breeder swears by that. We do the coconut oil but not the acv since we use a filtered water fountain.
