Default Suggestions for Homeschooling Materials

I'm trying to decide which homeschool materials (books, dvds, hands-on kits) to bring overseas with us. DS requests more books on chemistry, geology and post-medieval history. I'll probably just scan the Sonlight list for good history stories but I'm a bit stumped for science. Right now DS's favorite science book is Usbourne's Essential Guide to Chemistry (for ages 12 and up). It's a challenge for him but he is getting so much out of it. It leaves me mind boggled (often literally as I nearly failed chemistry).

Which resources did your kids find the most useful for learning about chemistry and geology? Awesome history recommendations are also more than welcome.

What age is he?

And, do you have a tablet you can read books on? Can you get a library membership at a library that has a lot of that kind of thing on e-book, and then you can keep yourself stocked by downloading new ones periodically?

We 've used some of the books from NOEO science level 1 and 2 (right now we're doing level 2 biology).

I have also enjoyed the young scientist kits but find it's a usually better deal to buy them from Amazon.

His age may not be helpful. He is 6.5 but can read my college textbooks if the content is of interest. One of his favorite people to visit is a friend of ours with his Master's in Chemistry and they discuss things that make my head spin.

And we do have a tablet but I won't be able to download new things after we leave the states unless I get lucky and the internet is flying. It's an awesome idea though.

And I totally forgot libraries existed!! You have no idea how excited I am now. We can go preview everything!!!!
