Re: Positive Discipline - Week 2
I struggle with providing words of affirmation to my children and my DH (his LL) because I feel like it's a form of ego-stroking, and I don't want to feed insecurity. I don't think I ever needed compliments or anyone to tell me I did such a good job and they love me so much etc, in order to feel loved or appreciated, at least not the way WoA people seem to need it. (My LL is acts of service) I know my DS1 is WoA, but I really need to work on offering encouragement in general. It's SO easy to criticize instead of uplift.

Re: Positive Discipline - Week 2
I noticed yesterday when my dd showed me a picture she drew that I looked more carefully and then as I said what a great picture it was for such and such reason she really lit up with a great big smile. I too really struggle with encouragement, it is so much easier for me to be negative. This is a lot of fun, challenging, but fun.

Re: Positive Discipline - Week 2
I *think* I'm pretty good at this one. But it's still helpful to be reminded. Even when I'm correcting, I always try to end with something she's done well. It seems to help.

Re: Positive Discipline - Week 2
I am HORRIBLE at words of encouragement. Now, I realize how much I need to work on this with my WHOLE family. I need to PLAN a way to encourage each person at least once a day until it becomes a habit for me.
