Unprepared for Parenting (Ezzos, Pearls, Etc.) *Public*Support and information for those affected by the Ezzos, the Pearls, and other punitive and adversarial methods of child-rearing. A public forum. Before posting here, please read this sticky and keep guideline 23 in mind:
23. No posts harshly dissecting parenting moments of others since we desire to humbly cultivate a heart attitude of grace and not judgment towards other mamas. We all struggle at times as parents and have much to learn, and GCM's focus is to provide tools and information for each of us to parent more effectively. Posts voicing some frustration regarding choices made by others can be okay, but it needs to be within the overall context of seeking understanding or ideas for better responses in the future.
Would you consider allowing me to post the letter and its response on my page?
Let me think about that . The letter, certainly - it's mine and I'm fine with you sharing it . But I'll have to see wrt the response (if I do indeed get one). I mean, on the one hand, the question addresses what he's publicly teaching, so it's kind of inherently the thing you'd not mind people sharing, and I don't think I'd have an issue with sharing it with a friendly audience. But sharing it to a critical audience...idk. Of course, I'm planning to share the substance of the response here, which is much like having it on your site, and idk if there's a) much difference between sharing the exact words and sharing my impression of the exact words, and b) if it's not just more fair and respectful to let him speak in his own words instead of my interpretation of his words. (Otoh, my interpretation of his words instead of his own gives him room to argue I didn't represent him fairly - gives him some distance.)
Oh, idk, ideally I'd get a response, ask if I could share it on a critical site in its entirely, and he'd say yes, and the whole thing would be completely aboveboard. Otherwise I'll have to see, I guess - thoughts about the ethics of it are welcome .
