internet parental controls for tablet (android)
I found some apps that will let me control which apps a kid can use. But it's all or nothing--internet access or no internet access. I need something that will let dd use the internet on the tablet, but only sites which I allow.

We use Mobicip and like it. It is available for Android, Windows and Apple products.

Here are some which look like they might work:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...een.lite&hl=en https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...browsing&hl=en https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...=funamo.funamo (free trial, then $20) https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...oat.k9.android https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...com.np.comvigo (high ratings, 30 day free trial, did not check prices)

Re: internet parental controls for tablet (android)
A lot of those look like they block sites with inappropriate content. But do any of them let me essentially block all sites except those which I specifically allow? (A lot of the sites she goes on aren't "bad" per se; I just don't want her generally spending time on them.)

I would chdck the others, but MMGuardian has an allow feature where we can block all but 'allowes' sites which we specify on a list. It also alerts us to texts which contains a list of words we specify.

Re: internet parental controls for tablet (android)
Keeping a kid from being able to use just the app store would mean a lot to me.

Re: internet parental controls for tablet (android)
In settings, under "restrictions", you can turn off the app store. I keep it turned off unless I want to go in and buy something, so Monkey can't buy anything. When you turn on restrictions, it has you set a password, so they'd need the password to get in and turn it back on.

Re: internet parental controls for tablet (android)
I bought tablets that came with parental controls installed (Kurio) - I can set either level of filtering by age category, or only allowed sites. I can also set which apps they can access in their profile, so I currently have internet on (suitable for under 7s) but browser off (so they can only use internet as needed to play games e.g. they can connect via the Wi-Fi to play on each other's Minecraft worlds). some of the game apps I had to allow them access to the appstore but I set in-app purchasing to off. (maybe not much help to you cos I don't know if it's available as an app for non-Kurio tablets, but an option if someone's reading who hasn't got the tablet yet)

I have mobicip on the ipad my teenager uses because it seems to be the only filter that filters YouTube without totally blocking it.

Re: internet parental controls for tablet (android)
I know this thread is older, but I use a combo of mobicip and an app called screentime. It lets me put some things on a time limit and some things not and it also lets me have hours that the tablet cannot be used etc. I am very happy with it. It also lets me know when apps update etc.
