Recommend me an allergy mattress cover please!

My eczema is getting worse and worse and I suspect that dust mites are a major contributing factor. We have no carpet in our house, but i notice that when i'm sitting in our bed for long periods of time I get more itchy. I want to by allergy mattress and pillow covers, but i don't know which kind to choose. I need whatever cover I buy to be waterproof. I have $100 or less to spend on a queen mattress cover, boxspring cover (do i need this???) and four pillow covers.

I'm not sure this fits your budget criteria, but we got our matress covers here and have been happy with them.

We just got a twin one from Target for our dd who has bad allergies. It was $19.99. The other ones we saw like at Sleep Experts were like $65. We also found out that memory foam has no dust mites. So we got her a memory foam pillow. I really don't think you'd have to cover the box spring. I think the dust mites need a place to breed and a box spring doesn't have that type of environment. How old is your matttress? I found it interesting that the weight of you mattress doubles in 10 years due the weight of all the dust mites. According to the tag, my dd's mattress weighed around 23 lbs when new. When we got rid of it 2 weeks ago, we weighed it and it was like 58 lbs. Yikes!!! The mattress was around 20 years old.

I DONT recommend the covers from Walmart I bought one for my sons queen size bed that was for allergies and waterproof (it was more for when he was learning to go diaperless at night). After a few washings it looked fine but was not waterproof which led me to believe that it was no longer an effective way to seal everything in even when zipped.

I have very bad dust mite allergies and just bought some Pristine Complete mattress cover and pillow covers on ebay. But I have also seen protectors (different brands) at Home Goods vastly reduced. If you have a Home Goods near you.

I am so curious about these- please let me know how they hold up over time and if you like them. They are so much less expensive, but I was worried they'd fall apart more easily - I think because our waterproof mattress cover I got from them fell apart after one washing.
