Default Looking for an article on problems with typical 'kids snacks' in classroom

Does anyone have an article/link/book that talks about this topic specifically? We're looking to change the way snacks are done in our church kids' program (director is on board with this but needs data for talking with the other leaders):

Quote:
One, simple article that speaks to the harm that a high sugar/carb diet and focus on food as time filler has on children. I want to have something that I can use to talk about why we need to get away from giving snacks on Sunday morning and that when we do have a celebration, why we will do something healthy instead. I hope there is something out there, a simple teaching tool.
I thought of it from the food allergy angle (how it's isolating for kids with allergies to not be able to participate with the food) but actual health stuff or 'classroom environment' stuff would be excellent too.

There's an article in the ny times online. I can't get it to link so google What's one cookie? You should be able to find it that way. http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpag...=&pagewanted=1

Here's another in the la times. http://articles.latimes.com/2010/mar...cks2-2010mar02

What key words did you search?

Nevermind - I did find it . Doesn't seem to fit what we're looking for but it was interesting!

I put the link above for both articles.

I used a google search for "eliminating snacks in Sunday school"

Sorry it didn't help.

There isn't a lot out there from a church angle.....

I think if it were me, I would just announce the policy, why it's being changed and not worry about research. . But that's me

Here's one on feeding kids sugar. Not sure if it is what you are looking for exactly, but it might help.
