How are your mums doing?
Mine in pots are fading fast, and I've only had them for about three weeks. I'm not sure if I'm over-watering or under-watering. Do you let the soil dry out a good bit before you water? I've been watering every two to three days. I'd love for them to last another month, but I don't think they'll last another week. They don't get much sun (lots of trees in the yard).

Re: How are your mums doing?
The only time I could get mums to look good was to plant them in the ground. We have three plants that come back every year now and bloom with no watering. I could never get them to last in a pot. As far as overwater or underwater, I have no idea.

Re: How are your mums doing?
I totally missed the forum this was in so when I saw the title "How are your mums doing?" I thought it was really sweet (though a bit confusing) that you were wondering how our mothers are ...
P.S. I'm a plant killer, so nothing else to contribute. |

Re: How are your mums doing?
Our British mums might be disappointed to find out I'm asking after their chrysanthemums. But if anyone would like to tell us how your mother is, we'd be glad to hear. Mine is doing well.
Charla, I had heard that mums could be perennials, but any time I've put them in the ground at the end of the season, I've never seen them again. Maybe I need to do it when they're fresh.

Re: How are your mums doing?
Hmm, I can't remember, but I do think I put them in the ground when they were still green. If I remember correctly, I only had one of two or three that I planted like that come back up. However, we planted two in another bed directly into the ground instead of keeping them in a pot for awhile and they have come back every year.
