Which Achievement Test
I know many homeschoolers do not test, however for those of you who do test -- either via requirement or choice -- which test do you prefer and why? We have used the CAT in the past, but I am considering the PASS test...
Do you have a preferred test? |

Re: Which Achievement Test
Subbing. We have to test for the first time this year according to state requirements.

Re: Which Achievement Test
We used CAT for 3rd grade, will probably use it again this year (we're required to test in 3rd, 5th & 8th). I like that it's not a super long test and that anyone can administer it. Our state only requires that someone other than the parent administer it. Last time I was planning to have my mom administer it but that didn't work out and I had my neighbor do it instead, she doesn't have a college degree so that requirement, that some tests have, would have given me fits.
That said, if I were choosing to test, I'm not sure I'd go with the CAT, I didn't feel like it told me as much as I remember the Iowa tests I took in school, telling me. Since I'm only testing because it's required, and actually don't allow my children to see their results (they're twins, and too competitive with each other as it is, nothing good would come of one being able to lord it over her sister that she got 2% higher in whatever subject.

Re: Which Achievement Test
We've done Stanford through our co-op. Honestly, I did that one simply because it was easy - other families in were using using it and had a system in place. I do know that certain tests are only offered in certain areas - I think we can get Stanford here but not Iowa.

Re: Which Achievement Test
I use the state test, in our state it's on computer. I like it and felt it gave an accurate measure of DS1's academic skills. I didn't test until 2nd grade.
