Do you buy cereal? Does it contain Monsanto's genetically modified ingredients?

I only buy Nature's Path ecopak cereal and occasionally Envirokids' Panda Puffs, they're DH's favorite.

I buy lots of Kashi! They put on their website a list of their cereals that do not contain GM grain.

I also buy Crispix and Cheerios.

it's a preservative that has possible links to ADHD. I've only seen it in cereal but cereal is pretty much the only processed food that we eat, so it may be in lots of other foods too. Atleast half the cereals I've looked at have contained it. When Bear eats a cereal with BHT, he gets incredibly hyperactive and impulsive. (another one to look out for is sodium benzoate)

BHT and TBHQ are sometimes in canned beans too.

We do not buy cereal. I do make grain free cereal. We are on the GAPS diet.

Care to elaborate on what a grain free cereal looks like?

It looks like grapenuts or granola depending on the cereal size. It holds together far better than traditional cereals in milk. Itcs main ingredients are ground nuts and coconut flour. I make Cinnamon-Almond, Apple-Cinnamon-Pecan, Peanut Butter-Almond, and Peanut Butter-Pecan (which is amazing!) I only make it about 4-6 times a year, because it is a 3 day process. LOL

Are there any versions of this that don't use nuts? (We have nut allergies.) I'd love to try something like that.

ETA: I have been buying cereal lately. We had gotten away from it last year, but somehow got sucked backed into the convenience. I only buy it if I get a really good deal, though, and pay less than $2 a box. My kids are all over the place on whether or not they like homemade granola and oatmeal or not. They won't eat eggs. They will always eat boxed cereal, though, and on Sunday mornings, when we have to get out of the house by 8:15 it's a MEGA convenience.

I have another recipe for a granola that is made with coconut flour and dried fruit. If they eat cereal dry, it would be a fantastic replacement and takes about 10 minutes to put together and then the dehydration time. However, it doesn't hold well in milk.
