This afternoon I went with a friend to get a milkshake and as we were waiting in the drive through line, a car that was parked perpendicular to the line began backing out. I turned to my friend who was driving and said, "I'm not sure how they think they are going to back out...there definitely isn't enough room." Sure enough the car kept getting closer and closer to my friend's car as we watched. I kept thinking surely they are going to stop...surely..and then involuntarily I yelled, "HONK!" so my friend honked. The car stopped just before hitting our car and then PROCEEDED TO BACK INTO THE CAR WE WERE IN!!!! My friend honked again and jumped out of the car and said "You just hit me." The other car just continued to back around our car until it was straightened out. The driver rolled down the window and hollered "Is it ok?!" in a tone that almost sounded accusatory. My friend waved them off and said it was fine and they said thank you and drove off.
I was completely appalled and kept trying to think of a situation in which this kind of behavior could be explained but I have yet to think of anything justifiable.

To answer your question people are in to big of hurry to think of anything but themselves so if it don't convience them they don't want a part of it.
I agree the man should have been a little more responsive, but also know that when mg turned into that van just a month ago if the guy were more understanding of the setting it would not have ended the way it did. DD said that he was parked but not completly like he was taking half the road and parking space, so she had thought she was clear of the van and when she pulled out she struck it. The guy got all freaked out and was throwing a fit saying he was going to call the cops, but instead he left and picked up his kid from the grade school and came back to the crash and called the cops. The guy wanted us to pay for a bit of dirt that got rubbed off his van and even the sherrif said the same thing, it was something that could be buffed out in a washing. Either case is exceptable but the fact that the guy dd hit left the site and came back gives him no room for complaint

Both she and I are fine. The car is probably fine, I didn't actually look at it after she dropped me back off at home but she looked at it and said it was fine...so I guess its ok. I just was shocked.
---------- Post added at 11:36 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:34 AM ---------- Also, I totally understand accidents and things. But this seemed like less of an accident and the driver didn't even seem to care (they didn't even get out of the car or apologize) and it was almost like they were surprised that we said anything.

Yes I understand, I was so shocked when dd came home from school and told me she had another accident. I broke down and went into histerics. I lost control of my feelings and could not think anymore. I was more worried about what dad would do and that I would have to drive her to school again and could not take the stress. Not to mention we just had the insurance go up from the last accident she had. Dh and I fought over that one for two days before he took my feelings into concidreation. We both agreeded that she needed to learn something and she would be loosing driving privlages for two weeks but could drive to school and tennis. This made me feel better because I was so sick and stressed from everything then having the tooth thing.

I can come up with some possible scenarios where that could happen:
maybe they have a strange addiction to hitting things with their carmaybe they wanted to prove you wrong...that they COULD back out of that spot Maybe they have a secret grudge against that particular color of car maybe they saw a huge spider on the outside of your car...and squished it for you...they were doing you a favor
