Depends on the plant...peas, carrots, beets, lettuce, squash, some herbs, etc. I do from seed, tomatoes, peppers, etc. I do from plant starts. Same with flowers, some from seed, some from starts, depends on what's available and my mood.

I'm always itching to start planting loooong before we can here in Saskatchewan (zone 2)! I can't put anything outside until the latter part of May or early June. All my seeds are already ordered and arrived in January, though! I don't have a list handy, but suffice to say we have a large garden as we're rural; my rows are typically about 40 feet. I should be starting onions (indoors from seed) in March and a few herbs (sage and rosemary, if I recall). Tomatoes and green beans are the backbone of my garden, but there's a plethora of other things, too. Last year I did leeks for the first time and loved them so much that they're definitely one of my staples now! Must get started on my planning this week so I know how much to start.
