Alphabet soup and cornbread is my family's favorite cold weather meal!
8 oz (1/2 box) alphabets
1 lb ground venison or beef
OR LENTILS
10 oz frozen mixed veg
4 c. tomato juice
4 c. beef broth (or sub for appropriate amount of water and beef bouillon or veggie broth/bouillon)
1 tsp. dried basil
1 tsp. marjoram
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp garlic powder
In a large pot brown and drain ground meat. Stir in everything
except the alphabets. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 30 minutes. Add alphabets and simmer another 10 minutes.
Serve with cornbread.
I posted this with meat in it because I got here from new posts and didn't notice I was in the VEGAN forum.
Lentils are a great sub in this recipe!
