This is a terrible thread to stumble across when you are hungry and needed to buy groceries two days ago.
I am afraid of lentils these days, since for me they seem to trigger gallbladder attacks.
BUT I used to make a delicious lentil stew with just lentils and your usual soup veggies, thickened with a bit of flour and butter. Sooo good.
Chciken stew or soup, Italian Wedding, Hamburger Soup (which I no longer make because of the msg iin my recipe), Barley Beef with mushrooms, Veggie Chili, White Chili...
Okay. Shopping. Tomorrow. Stat.
Oh! Last winter, I made alot of veggie broth. If I used edible bits only, when it was alldone I would spoon out the mushy veggies, puree them, add some crisp ones to cook just until done, then add the puree back in with a can of evaporated milk, salt, and pepper. So easy. So. Ridiculously. Good.
Come summer, I'm nearly vegan. Let soup weather hit, and... rawr.
