There's a thread on it over at the Well Trained Mind forums. (It's public - comes up with a quick google - but is a few years old.) It sounds like people like it for the most part for 10-12 year olds, but be on the lookout for typos in the text.
There was also mention of a Beautiful Feet curriculum on the History of the Horse that sounds intriguing. That might be for a younger audience.
One of my kids did a unit study lapbook on horses a couple of years ago - Hands of a Child I think. I looked for it this morning, but to no avail. From what I can remember, it wasn't very long, about 4 weeks, but had plenty of info for her. It was laid out well and quite user-friendly. We've done a few HoaC lapbooks and been happy with them, but probably too young for a 7th grader.
