Also, my kids absolutely love popovers with soup.(The ones that will eat soup, that is. The anti-soup kids just eat the popovers.) Our favorite recipe is here. I usually double it.

[emoji38] yes, it should be venison shanks. Literally the legs of the deer. Usually we throw them away. But dh read about how good they were braised for hours so we tried it. I don't think it cooked long enough. Cooking time can be all over the place with wild game! They were ok.
