There is a clause or subclause in the small print on one of the few two sided pages that says the five days are for cleaning and repairs. I live in a college area so most of the renters are new renters and college students, so I think they can get away with this and not raising any eyebrows.
I saw the apartment of the people who have to be out by the 25 th of this month and it was gross! They packed up this past week and maintence was there on Friday. I knocked onthe door when maintence was there to ask if they could move a huge pile of garbage bags someone left under the back steps. He just shrugged and said it was probably the folks who moved out and their deposit will cover the cleaning. He was just doing repairs and the cleaning team will be in next week.
The inside had piles of junk, a few pieces of broken furniture and smelled like cat pee and alcohol. Given that is the normal state of apartments upon move out I can understand the five extra day clause!
I celebrated earth day by filling up all the garbage bins for the apartment with the trash that had becom strewn across the back yard! I'm so happy we produce only two small grocery bags worth I can easily pop in the bike trailer and either trash or recycle elsewhere!
