The Alexa smart speakers are called Echoes. Everyone just calls them "Alexas" (including me) but they are Echoes.

"I bought another Alexa," means "I bought another Echo."

The Echo Show is an Alexa with a screen. As soon as I found out my mom could answer video calls from us with her voice, I knew we needed them. She has not been able to use a tablet without help. (That has nothing to do with age or her medical conditions, she's always been anxious about technology.) Her facility will do scheduled zoom chats but I want to be able to have a video call with her whenever we want.

Almost forgot. Apparently Best Buy has some kind of price guarantee. If you buy now, and the price goes lower before Christmas, you'll get the lower price. I heard it on a consumer podcast but I haven't checked it for myself.
