I've made these before and served them on a bun with salad to my very *not* vegetarian BIL (he actually wears a t-shirt that says 'save a cow, eat a vegetarian!!
) Anyhow, he seriously thought it was a meat burger.
2 1/2 cups or 2 tins cooked kidney beans
1/2 cup rolled oats
1 tbs soy sauce
2 tbs vegetable oil.
Drain and mash the beans. Add oats and soy sauce and knead with hands. Form into four large burgers. Saute in oil on each side, starting out with a high heat to brown, then lower the heat till they are cooked right through.
