Where does the idea of "breaking a child's will but not there spirit" come from? I have been pondering this a lot lately because it really bothers me that people think this way and I am wondering WHERE IN THE WORLD IN THE BIBLE DOES IT SAY SUCH A THING??? I mean, I know it DOESN"T, but where do other people get this idea from (I am thinking that somehow they think it *is* Biblical???) I know my thinking is that God gave us a free will and why in the world would I want to break that and have a weak willed child who can't stand on his own when he grows up. And how is it that you break their will but not their spirit? To me it's just so connected, seems they would be breaking their child's spirit too, just not wanting to admit it? Anyways, it's just been bugging me as to where this idea came from and how they think they can back it up with Scripture. Anyone know?
