Re: Never ending virus?
While you can get hives from a virus, it’s most likely allergy related. My son has inflamed ears, nose and throat year round but doesn’t get viruses very easily. I feel like when everything is already inflamed it just blurs the line to know wether sick or allergy.
With hives it’s a pretty big sign the allergy bucket is overflowing. Some people can get stuck like that if their body doesn’t get the chance to catch up and deal with the excess histamine. Here is what I told a friend who recently had hives for 4 mo and it worked for her. Hives can take two weeks to go away even if you are treating it around the clock. One antihistamine often isn’t enough. Take a 24 hour one like zyrtec AND Benadryl as often as you can stand to. If it makes you super drowsy that will just be at night but if you can stand it you should take several doses in the daytime too. Sometimes if allergies are really bad it won’t make you tired even if it normally does. You also need an H2 blocker like Zantac morning and night. This works on histamine a different way than H1 blockers like Benadryl or Zyrtec. Both types of med together are far more effective than either type alone. Even doing this diligently it can take up to two weeks to resolve completely. That’s how long it took for C. Drinking lots of water can help eliminate excess histamine as well.
