I had a Garmin VivoFit 2. They latest model is the Garmin VivoFit 4 and, so far, the reviews are problematic, people have trouble pairing it with their phone.
I definitely don't want that hassle. If you're not going to pair it, it would probably be great great.
It only does time, steps, calories burned, stopwatch, distance, and sleep monitoring. It never needs to be charged and it water resistant, which I loved. I had mine for 2 1/2 years and was still on the same battery.
It doesn't have GPS or monitor heart rate. GPS is what makes the distance tracking accurate. With the VivoFit I entered my average stride length and it multiplied that by my steps to get a distance. It was fine for my purposes. People who run a lot usually want more accuracy than that.
