I found this awesome phone for kids!!!!!!
https://gabbwireless.com/
Unlimited Text and talk
No picture messaging!!!!
No group messaging
Has a camera but must be offloaded onto a computer
No data or wifi capabilities
No Games
Has a Calender
Has a Calculator
Has an alarm
So it has all the basic utilitarian features of a smart phone, without the dangers of internet access, being able to receive graphic pictures from predators or other kids.
So we have been considering getting the kids a phone for a while. It would primarily be for my oldest who is old enough to run in a store alone for me while I stay with the kiddos in the car, or stay home alone for a while, or walk a quarter mile down the road to our library by himself to drop off or pick up school books. I want him to have a phone with him. Plus, honestly, finding him after church if we need to leave in a hurry for whatever reason is a pain. The youth groups meet in the old church building and he is all the way in the basement and I really don't want to drag out all the kids, esp with a newborn in March, to go get him early.
The phone will also be available to his brothers to call and talk to their dad, who is a trucker, any time, it won't be the exclusive property of my oldest, but he will be the primary user because of age and need.
