If you do not have gluten issues I would suggest some vital wheat gluten, but you might not have that laying around. Adding some flour and kneading a bit to achieve gluten would also work too.

We're only vegan on certain days. I'd like to get this recipe to work for those days, though.
Last night, though, we had our "crabby patties" topped with cheese. An egg wouldn't have been a problem.
No problems with gluten, though. I'll pick some up next time I'm at the HFS.
