Re: Kitchen sink: single or double basin
I love my current set-up. I have a double sink and wash on one side, and permanently keep a strainer in the other side. The sink is deep enough that when the strainer is empty you don't see it. I considered a farm-style sink but with a corner sink the front would be too wide and need a really big corner cabinet. The sink is under-mounted and the spray nozzle is built into the faucet so there is little visual clutter (important to me). I have a small prep sink in the kitchen island that comes in handy when the double has soapy water on one side and I need to drain or rinse something. If I need to thaw a turkey, I use my laundry room sink. Deep but not huge basins were important to me. If I ever buy new sinks I will make sure to get a better metal gauge because I've made a couple of dents in the past two years, and our previous sink I had only made one dent in 15 years. My current sink is insulated which helps to keep water warm. I had no idea when I chose it, though. I accepted the sinks that were included for no charge with the counter top purchase. I had no idea about features to consider besides aesthetics and not wanting sharp corners, a flat bottom, or white ceramic.
